Exchange Program
With ECI sponsorship and guardianship, students may apply and if accepted, enroll at our associate, private, co-educational, college-preparatory, Christian high schools located in Southern California and Northern California. ECI can handle your sponsorship and guardianship at the following schools.
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
Monterey Bay Academy: A Seventh-Day Adventist, private, co-educational, college-preparatory, Christian high school located right on the ocean with a mile of its own private beach. The dormitories, cafeteria, and classroom buildings overlook the Pacific Ocean. Students, teachers, and staff live on the campus, creating a family-like atmosphere. Students live in either the boys' or girls' dormitories which are under adult supervision 24 hours a day. ESL and TOEFL preparation are available all four years of high school. Monte Vista Christian School: A large, private, co-educational, college-preparatory, non-denominational, Christian high school located on the Central Coast of California. Students can either stay with an American host family near the school or can stay in the school dormitories. ESL is only provided for grades 9 and 10. Students need at least a 500 TOEFL if they apply as junior or senior. Deadline for application June for fall admission. (Apply Now)
San Domenico High School: A private, girls, college-preparatory, Catholic high school located just north of San Francisco in the city of San Anselmo. International students live on campus in the school dormitories. Students must have a minimum of 450 TOEFL to apply. Deadline for applications is November of preceding year of admission. Rio Lindo High School: A Seventh-Day Adventist, private, co-educational, college-preparatory, Christian high school located in Northern California near Napa, California. Much of the staff lives on or near the campus, and most of the students live in the school dormitories. ESL classes provided all four years. Deadline for applications is May for fall admission. Mountain View Academy: A Christian high school located in Mountain View, California, the heart of Silicon Valley. Mountain View Academy is a day school, with international students living with a host family. Students attend from San Jose, Santa Clara, and other South Bay cities. In 2008, 100% of Mountain View Academy students went on to study at a college or university. There are scholarships available from ECI for this school program. ESL classes provided all four years. Santa Cruz Waldorf School: The Santa Cruz Waldorf High School follows the Waldorf method of teaching, which emphasizes and builds the curriculum around the arts. Students take a variety of art, sculpture, theater, and physical education classes that provide them the skills to be successful in life. The Waldorf School strives to teach a love of education and learning. It is a small school located in Santa Cruz, California, where every student is given individual attention. The York School: The York School is located near Monterey, California is one of the top-rated college preparatory days schools in California. It has a rigorous academic curriculum, a competitive athletic program with opportunities for individual and group participation in the arts and a broad variety of extra-curricular activities and clubs. Classes are small with a student to faculty ratio of 9:1, so students receive lots of personal attention. This school offers no ESL. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Christian High School: A private, co-educational, college-preparatory, non-denominational, Christian high school located near San Diego, California. This school offers ESL classes in English, English Lab, United States History, and Bible, as well as 14 AP classes. In addition, they have excellent Visual & Performing Arts and Interscholastic Sports Programs, including courses in drama, choral music, instrumental music, music appreciation, art appreciation, specialized arts, film and video production, as well as 18 competitive sports teams. El Cajon Middle School: A small, private, K-8 school, located near San Diego. The school has just started accepting international middle school students, who will live on campus with a school staff member and his/her family. (Apply Now)
San Diego Academy: This new school stresses a Christian education. Students attending this school need to be willing to grow academically, spirtually, and physically. (Apply Now)
Calvin Christian High School: Calvin Christian High School provides a quality, rigorous, and Christian-centered education. Classes ranging from Advanced Placement to remedial education are available. Fine Arts and Student Leadership programs provide students with a variety of co-curricular options and avenues to develop and use their talents and gifts. Tri-City Christian School: This K-12 school is located in Vista, California, just outside of San Diego. The school has a student body of about 1200 students and offers a wide range of academic courses. International students are mainstreamed into regular educational programs, so they must possess excellent English skills. Tri-City Christian High School. From the time students arrive in the US until the time they leave, ECI staff provides constant monitoring and support, assisting students to mature and develop in an atmosphere that is both intellectually challenging and personally rewarding. ECI provides sponsorship and guardianship for all students in their program.
Additional Activities
On weekends, ECI staff takes the students on local outings for shopping and visits to area attractions. During school holidays, ECI plans and chaperones educational tours based on the interests of the group. In addition, students may spend Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's holidays with a host family in the community. Host families are carefully screened and selected by experienced, senior ECI staff.
